Viendo el rally Chicago: es este el tipo de país que queremos?

En viendo el violento rally de Donald Trump en Chicago del 11 de marzo me pregunto, si este es el tipo de país que queremos o un líder que GINS la ira y el racismo que se manifestó en el choque. Será este el sello distintivo de cuatro años de una presidencia Trump?

La persona que ha sentado las bases para este tipo de incidentes es el propio Trump, pintando cuerpos enteros de las minorías con el pincel de un menor número de manzanas podridas. Trump también ha hecho una cuestión de estar en contra de la corrección política. Lo que esto significa es que se ha dado luz verde para ser abiertamente racista y no civil a los demás que no son como sus seguidores. .Para Él para esperar que no habría una reacción violenta es ingenuo o el cálculo.

No han sido los largo de la historia como Trump que aprovechara la ira para obtener apoyo político, el chivo expiatorio grupos étnicos, raciales y religiosos la culpa de sus problemas, y que incitó a la violencia contra los que protestaron. Este tipo de una campaña llevada a cabo por Trump se está convirtiendo cada día más digno de comparaciones con el aumento en Europa en la década de 1930 de tales hombres fuertes. Nosotros, como votantes todavía tienen la capacidad de detener esto en las urnas.

Tanto Ted Cruz y Marco Rubio fueron elocuentes en su condena de la exhortación de Donald Trump a sus seguidores para perforar manifestantes en la nariz y tolerar otras acciones violentas. John Kasich era su habitual adulto razonable en su crítica.

 Por supuesto, tanto Rubio y Cruz tuvieron que insertar un breve comentario de que, mientras que el propio Trump fue el principal contribuyente a este tipo de enfrentamientos a causa de su retórica, de alguna manera u otra Pres. Obama era un poco culpable, también, aludiendo vagamente a la realización de la lucha de clases. Para que estoy rascándome la cabeza. No veo la conexión, aparte de Obama es sólo ser lo que es, el primer presidente Negro de los Estados Unidos y un demócrata que tradicionalmente ha mirado hacia fuera para los de abajo. Voy a tomar estos breves comentarios como simplemente un hueso aplacar arrojó a sus electores para dejar en claro de ellos es todavía una carrera partidista ..

La ironía de esto es que la aprobación del trabajo del presidente Obama se ha elevado a 50% de favorabilidad del 47% en los últimos tres años, según una reciente encuesta de Gallup, y la especulación del encuestador es porque, en contraste con el campo de candidatos, que se ve muy bien a los votantes . Que, por cierto, está a la par con las urnas del presidente Reagan cuando dejó el cargo. Eso no es malo para un presidente cuya opositores han llamado a un fallo o una figura controvertida.

Un comentario desconectado de la realidad hecha por Donald Trump en el debate del GOP 10 de marzo fue que el presidente Obama estaba tan débil, Estados Unidos era el hazmerreír del mundo. Una reciente encuesta de Pew Research mundo de opiniones encontró otra cosa. "A nivel mundial, la imagen de Obama es en su mayoría positivas. A través de los 40 países encuestados, una mediana de 65% dice que tiene confianza en Obama para hacer lo correcto en los asuntos mundiales" y se cortaba mayor que sus predecesores.

Los EE.UU. no es que se rían, pero la reacción mundial ha sido uno de los golpes y decepción por el tono de la campaña Trump incitar al odio, el miedo y la falta de respeto de casi todo el mundo que es una minoría, de los hispanos y musulmanes, y los afroamericanos. Watching the Chicago rally: is this the kind of country we want?

In watching the violent Donald Trump rally  in Chicago March 11,   I ask myself, if this is the kind of country we want or a leader who gins up the anger and racism that was manifested in the clash. Will this be the hallmark of four years of a  Trump presidency?

The  person who has laid the groundwork for such  incidents is Trump himself, by painting  entire bodies of minorities with the brush of a fewer  bad apples. Trump has also made an issue  of being against political correctness. What that means is that he has given the go ahead to be openly racist and uncivil to  others that are  not like his supporters. .For him to expect that there would not be a backlash is either naive or calculating. 

There have been those throughout history like Trump who exploited anger to gain political support, scapegoated ethnic, racial and religious groups to blame for  their troubles,  and who incited violence against those who protested. This kind of a campaign conducted by Trump  is becoming daily  more worthy of comparisons with the rise in Europe in the 1930's  of such strongmen. We as voters still have the ability to stop this at the ballot box. 

Both Ted Cruz and Marco Rubio were eloquent in their condemnation of Donald Trump's exhortation to his followers to punch protestors in the nose and condoning other such violent actions. John Kasich was his usual reasonable adult self in his criticism.

 Of course both Rubio and Cruz had to insert a brief comment that, while Trump himself was the major contributor to such confrontations because of his rhetoric, somehow or other Pres. Obama was a bit guilty, too, alluding vaguely to conducting class warfare.  For that I am scratching my head.  I fail to see the connection, other than Obama is  just being who he is, the first Black president of the United States and a Democrat who has traditionally looked out for the underdog. I will take these brief comments  as simply a placating  bone tossed to their constituents to make clear theirs is still a partisan race..

The irony of it is that President Obama's job approval has risen to 50% favorability from 47%  in the past three years according to a recent Gallup poll, and the pollster's speculation is because in contrast with the candidate field, he looks pretty good to voters.  That, by the way, is on par with the polls of President Reagan when he left office.  That is not bad for a president whose opponents have called a failure or a divisive figure.  

A comment disconnected from reality made by Donald Trump in the GOP debate March 10 was that President Obama was so weak, America was the laughing stock of the world.  A recent Pew Research Poll of world opinions found something else.  "Globally, Obama’s image is mostly positive. Across the 40 countries polled, a median of 65% say they have confidence in Obama to do the right thing in world affairs" and he polled higher than his predecessors.

The US is not being laughed at but world reaction has been one of shock and disappointment  at the tone of the Trump campaign inciting  hate, fear and disrespect of nearly everyone who is a minority, from Hispanics and Muslims, and African Americans. Shame on us if we do not stop this kind of campaign.

Existe una corriente subterránea en la campaña presidencial que se ha hecho poca atención. Sin apretar cae en la categoría de guerra o no. Entre mi círculo de amigos y familiares son los que apoyan Bernie Sanders. Sus razones son el miedo de torpeza en otro Irak. Por otro lado, está el más probable candidato republicano a la presidencia, Donald Trump. Él no tiene una política exterior racional sino GINS el odio de una religión con 1,5 millones de musulmanes que contiene exactamente los aliados que necesitamos para luchar ISIS.

Para el registro, no he sentido el Berna, porque creo que sus políticas nacionales, mientras que la identificación de los temas correctos, no son lo suficientemente realistas como para hacerlo a través del proceso legislativo y llegar a un acuerdo sobre el aumento de los impuestos a pagar por ellos. Todavía tengo preguntas si un socialista autodefinida obtendría los partidarios moderados y los independientes a votar por él necesitaba para ganar la Casa Blanca. Por otra parte, algunos de sus seguidores han dado algunas buenas razones para apoyarlo.

 Los entusiastas de Sanders con los que he hablado piensan que Sanders sería el que menos probabilidades de llevarnos a que repita el desastre de Irak de cualquiera de los otros que compiten por la Presidencia ya que era el único candidato ahora en la carrera que votaron en contra de la invasión de Irak . Vio las consecuencias que podemos aplastar a los oponentes con la fuerza militar al principio, pero lo que pasa después de eso es la cuestión. El enfoque de Hillary Clinton es evitar la inserción de tropas masivas de tierra para luchar ISIS, más suave, pero más aceptable que otros en el GOP.

Una sensación de Berna es mi nieto de 21 años que teme que más de Iraks en Siria y Libia significaría que el proyecto tendría que ser instituido ya una guerra en dos frentes con tropas de tierra en Irak y Afganistán exhausto nuestras fuerzas militares voluntarios. El otro son varios militares retirado que son veteranos de Vietnam a través de la Guerra Fría y después. No quieren otro Irak tampoco. Han visto demasiado de la inutilidad de tales guerras. ¿No hemos aprendido nada de Irak y Afganistán? Matar a un monstruo y otro levanta de las cenizas alimentan con el desorden y el odio que dejamos atrás.

Parece listo para ordenar a las tropas estadounidenses para matar a miembros de la familia de ISIS y defensores que restablezcan el uso de la tortura Donald Trump. Su nueva línea es que la mayoría de los seguidores del Islam nos odian, como si más bombardearlos harían ellos como nosotros. Por otra parte, tal retórica ya se ha hecho a sí mismo en persona no grata Europa y los mismos aliados que necesitamos para ayudarnos en el suelo, musulmanes árabes sunitas. Que sería pasar nuestra propia sangre y dinero.

 Lo más alarmante es la disposición de Trump para violar tanto las leyes estadounidenses e internacionales para hacerlo. Su respuesta en el debate de marzo de 10 respecto a las acciones actualmente ilegales: cambiar las leyes. Eso sería hacer de Estados Unidos un paria en la escala de los peores actores en el planeta. Cualquier autoridad moral se habría ido con el viento. Se daría Aceptar tácita que cualquier otra nación podría llevar a cabo sus guerras de esa manera con impunidad. Eso haría que América del fuerte de nuevo, pero apenas grande, y ya no es una "" ciudad brillante en una colina. "

There is an undercurrent in the presidential campaign that has gotten little attention.  It loosely falls into the category of  war  or not.  Among my circle of friends and relatives are those supporting Bernie Sanders. Their reasons are fear of blundering into another Iraq.  On the other hand, there is the most likely GOP  candidate for president, Donald Trump . He has no rational  foreign policy but instead gins up hatred of a religion with 1.5 billion Muslims that contains exactly the allies we need to fight ISIS.

For the record, I have not felt the Bern because I think his domestic policies, while identifying the right issues, are not realistic enough to make it through the legislative process and to get agreement on tax increases to pay for them. I still have questions whether a self-defined Socialist would get the moderate partisans and independents to vote for him needed  to win the White House.   On the other hand, some of his supporters have given some good  reasons for supporting him.

 The Sanders enthusiasts with whom I have spoken think that Sanders would be the least likely to get us into that repeat disaster of Iraq of any of the others vying for the Presidency since he was the only candidate now in the race who voted against the Iraq invasion. He saw the consequences that we may crush the opponents with military might at the beginning, but what happens after that is the issue. Hillary Clinton’s approach is to avoid inserting  massive ground troops to fight ISIS,  softer, but  more acceptable than others in the GOP.

One feeling the Bern is my 21 year old grandson who fears that more of Iraqs in Syria and Libya would mean that the draft would have to be instituted since fighting a two front war with ground troops in Iraq and Afghanistan exhausted our volunteer military forces.    The other are several retired military who are veterans of Viet Nam through the Cold War and after. They do not want another Iraq either. They have seen too much of the futility of such wars. Have we learned nothing from Iraq and Afghanistan? Kill one monster and another rises from the ashes fed on the mess and hate we leave behind.

Donald Trump seems ready to order US troops to kill family members of ISIS and advocates reinstating the use of torture.  His newest line is that most followers of Islam hate us, as if  more bombing them would make them like us. Furthermore, such rhetoric has already made himself persona non grata with Europe  and the very allies we need to help us on the ground, Muslim  Sunni Arabs . We would be spending  our own  blood and treasure.

 Most frightening is Trump’s willingness to violate both US  and international law to do it. His answer in the March 10 debate regarding currently illegal actions:  change the laws. That would make America a pariah on the scale of the very worst actors on the planet. Any moral authority would be gone with the wind .  It would give tacit OK  that any other nation could conduct their wars that way with impunity.  That would make America strong again, but hardly great, and no longer  a “"shining city on a hill."
